Dr. Marcia Ely started her Bachelor of Science degree in microbiology at Auburn University at Montgomery while stationed there during her 4 year tour in the Air Force. She finished her bachelor’s degree at the University of Florida then continued there at the College of Veterinary Medicine and graduated in 1988.
Dr. Ely worked at a small animal practice in St. Augustine for three years before moving with her family to Titusville in 1991 where she joined the practice of Drs. Glenn Young and Paul Burger. When Dr. Burger purchased Dunn Animal Hospital in 1999, Dr. Ely transfered to that practice and changed the name to Sunrise Animal Hospital. In 2003 Dr. Ely purchased Sunrise Animal Hospital from Dr. Burger.
Dr. Ely enjoyed raising her two children in Titusville. Now that her human children have grown and gone, her two furry children, Kitten and Kami, keep her entertained. She has fallen in love with Titusville and found it to be a great place to pursue her hobbies of kayaking, bicycling, RVing, photography and gardening.
Dr. Ely has served the Titusville community through her membership in the Titusville Sunrise Rotary Club since 2003. You may see her and her staff serving up "Dog Breath Chili" at the annual Rotary Chili Cook Off every February at the Titusville Down Town Street Party.
She is a member of the Florida Veterinary Medical Association, Veterinary Information Network and the American Veterinary Medical Association.
